Hi I need an outfit for the first day of 8th grade. I am 13 and I like Hollister, A&F, Aeropostale, American Eagle, Forever 21, Wet Seal, Charlotte Russe, and so on. Could you please help me? Can you list where you got each item and list the price please? Thank You.
Thanks,
Haleigh

dear haleigh,
thanks for writing in! i'd love to help you look smashing for the first day of school.

i have two outfits for you. the first is based on a hollister theme. the shirt, tank and skirt are from hollister while the accessories are from various other locations. the look we're going for here is a california cool meets east coast preppy. the two blues compliment each other very well. the navy in the accessories adds extra depth to the outfit. the light blue ribbon will look great in any color hair and is bound to contrast nicely. click on the picture for where to find the items.

next, we've got a little more sophisticated look. depending on the general style at your school, this could work really well, or not. i would definitely wear it, but i'm not sure if i would have worn it in the eighth grade. however, i'll leave the decision making up to you. for all i know, you're quite the fashionista yourself! anyway it's pretty simple overall, focusing on a black, creme, and brown motif. the heart details are especially sweet and freshen up the look. all of the items in this outfit are reusable with other outfits, so they're good buys. also, if/when you purchase the top, be sure to get one that's loose fitting. i always say tight jeans require a loose top, otherwise you can look a little too... well... tight.

hope these work for you miss haleigh! please let me know your thoughts/comments! if there's anything i can change, hit me up girl! lastly, be sure to keep us posted with eighth grade!

rock on, future fashionista!

And list watever hair. I have black hair but now its looking really brown... It's like 4 inches past my shoulder. Im going to grade 7.

dear lily,

thanks for writing in! all of your outfits sound like good choices. my personal fave? number three. i'm a big fan of h&m, and skinny jeans are so incredibly hot this season. use your $20-$30 to spice it up with some hot metallic or clear accessories from stores like forever21, charlotte russe, and target. clear and metallic will work with almost any color so you can wear them with different outfits! finally, wear your hair down in loose curls, or up in a high straightened pony.

try accessories like these:

best of luck miss lily! keep me posted on how you like my ideas/how the first day goes.

oh, and also, be sure to add the link on the right side of the page to your myspace! that way, you can tell you friends to click on it and see your question!

keep on keeping on!

thank you so much i LOVE the outfits. the thing that sucks is i don't have pierced ears : (

dear penguin,

no need to fear! i waited a long time to get my ears pierced too, and i'm sure that's the case with lots of my readers too. even though it might be tough to find exactly the same earrings as i put on the page... try this website: www.crazy4clipons.com. this should help until you get those lobes of yours pierced. :)

best of luck!

uniformity stinks?

ok see you already answered my question on yahoo answers about my back to school outfit and i was wondering if you had anymore ideas i'm the one with the collared shirts and jeans, khaki, white, and black bottoms. my school has no policy about accessories. PLEASE SEND ME MORE OUTFITS! I LOVED THE FIRST ONE! P.S. WE ARE ALLOWED TO WEAR TIES AT MY SCHOOL

MUCH APPRECIATED,
PENGUINLUVUR

her original question on yahoo! answers was:
What do i wear for back to school???!!!?
ok my school only lets us wear collared shirts with no designs on them and for our bottoms it can only be khaki, white, navy, or denim blue please help! links or pictures would be really good!

*just fyi for all of my readers, the outfit below is the outfit i responded with on yahoo! answers*

dear penguinluvur,
thanks for reading/writing, and i'm glad you liked the outfit i made for you! it's important to not lose one's sense of style and fashion when in uniform. little accessories really help to set you apart from the crowd. another eye catcher is beautiful hair. a little extra time in the morning to do what you need to do to make your hair amazing is often worth it.

now, on to some more outfits for the new school year!

let's begin with a nautical look. words cannot explain how much i adore the nautical theme! navy blue, white, and a touch of red look so incredibly classy together. white jeans are something i highly recommend you invest in. you are sure to stand out (in a good way!) in a clean, skinny cut pair. plus, you can use them with basically any polo. be sure to only wear those pants until about the end of september, or from march to june. otherwise, major fashion blunder :). the polo is lacoste, which is a sort of pricey brand, but any navy blue fitted polo will do. click on the image for pricing/availability.

this second look is inspired by the toys and games of children. the red is a very playful color, and the jigsaw puzzle and barrel of monkies, and bow accents create a nostalgic look. basically, this a super simple outfit meant for casual, everyday uniform wear. a cute statement outfit that everyone will be asking you about. and you can just tell them... THEfashionista made it for me ;)

well penguinluvur, hope these helped!

let me know your thoughts/comments, and keep us posted how school and the fashion life in general are treating you!

ciao for now.

greetings, all!

i was very excited to recieve a reply from mc_2005 with her thoughts on the outfits. below is her reply:

FASHIONISTA: RE: boyfriend's 21 birthday bash

i didn't care to much for the mod look, but this is so great. i've seen beauty and the beast a hundred times (it's one of my favorites) and i never thought purple and yellow would look so cute together. the dress is very elegant, but wispy and romantic at the same time... the length is perfect... classy, but short enough to show some leg for a little sex appeal. and the shoes! i absolutely love them, and i know the perfect place to look for some that will be much less expensive (i would love to have the jimmy choo's, but i've got to be realistic). i really love this, you did a fantastic job! i will definitely be shopping for this style! i'll let you know how the party turns out...

p.s. i would love it if you would comment on some of the outfits i put together here on polyvore.com... just for more ideas.

really glad you liked it, mc_2005! i am happy to check out and comment on your outfits! and that goes for everyone out there. just send me a link, and i'll be on it like audrey to tiffany's!

keep on writing in, and keep it chic.

boyfriend's 21 birthday bash!

mc_2005 wrote:

fashionista-
my boyfriend is turning 21 this year. there is going to be a big party, and he's decided to have it night club like... with that kind of a "dress code" (jeans are okay). i want to look really nice for him, kind of sexy but elegant. i want people to say "wow, what a lucky guy... his party is awesome and look at the girl he's with". i want to stand out, as i think i should... i know it's all about him but if i'm with him and we're celebrating then i need to be noticeable too... i shouldn't blend into the crowd. i want to dress up, but not too much, like i said, it's going to be his 21st birthday and you know what that means, so i still need something that isn't too uncomfortable. i'm pretty much up for any suggestions. i don't like ruffles or big bows, but other than that any color is fine (his favorite is purple, and he likes me in yellow or bright pink). i usually keep things simple but this is going to be an exceptional night... so dazzle me! i don't want to spend more than $200-$250.
also, we've been together for almost 4 years... we've been talking about an engagement and marriage, he likes to do things BIG... so i'm thinking this could be the night. i'll obviously want to be ready for that too... looking good in pictures and what not should the moment occur.
thanks so much...

dear mc_2005,
first off, thanks so much for visiting and writing in! second of all, let's find you the perfect outfit!

for starters, let's check out a classic, sophisticated, sexy look. right now, the "mod" look of the 1960's is very in, and black is chic no matter what. whether you have short or long hair, a headband is very flattering. hair can be swept up off the neck into a simple updo and finished off with the headband, or it can be curled or straightened and worn long with this adorable piece. the shortness of the dress creates a sassy feeling while not revealing much more than the legs, giving a very classy and elegant look. the bangles and necklaces add a little extra something that are sure to get you additional attention.

next, this outfit is inspired by belle from disney's beauty and the beast. i tried to incorporate the colors you said your boyfriend likes/likes on you. mainly, this one's all about the accessories. the simple yellow babydoll dress from necessary objects (nordstrom) allows you to really play up the dashes of purple throughout the rest of the outfit. the only downside is the shoes. a little more investigation would allow you to find some purple ones that are within your budget. these jimmy choos are super expensive. but finding a replacement shouldn't be too hard. as for your hair, i highly recommend wearing it down. loose and curly would look especially stunning with the babydoll. all of these items are available online.

well mc_2005, i hope these suggestions have helped you! i'd love to hear your feedback. if you're at all unsatisfied with any part of either outfit, let me know, and i'll see what i can do to fix it!
